I was a proud biology teacher in Denver Public Schools for 18 years. The part I loved the most while teaching was developing my course curricula and daily lesson plans. Working as an instructional designer lets me do that exclusively each day.

I grew up in Minnesota and now live in Colorado. While I enjoy the outdoors, my spouse and I are avid entertainers and host many dinner parties each year. I also love parenting our two sons, DIY projects, interior decorating, and painting.
During my teaching career, I had the opportunity to work in a molecular genetics lab at National Jewish Health in Denver, CO. Based on the lab's focus and my work there, I was inspired to create a novel lesson to engage my students in the use of bioinformatics tools in the research and fight against drug-resistant tuberculosis. My work was accepted for publication in The American Biology Teacher journal.
